“Rock of Ages” — Sacred Light Collection | Wood Block Art (3 x 8 x 1)
“Rock of Ages” is part of my Sacred Light Collection, a series born from both creative exploration and spiritual reflection.
This piece was created as I stepped beyond my familiar process and began experimenting with stained glass–inspired paintings on wood block. Built tile by tile, the surface is layered with multiple glazes, allowing light to move across the piece and create a quiet, luminous depth—much like light filtering through a chapel window.
What makes “Rock of Ages” especially meaningful is how it came to be.
Each individual “glass” tile was cut from one of my own previously discarded paintings. Rather than setting aside what felt unfinished, I chose to reclaim it—breaking it down and rebuilding it into something new. Fragments became form. The overlooked became intentional.
That process reflects the heart of the hymn “Rock of Ages”—a steady confidence rooted not in perfection, but in being held by Christ's salvation.
Mounted on a 3 x 8 x 1 inch solid wood block, this piece is ideal for a shelf, desk, or small devotional space. It stands beautifully on its own and invites slow, reflective viewing as light shifts across its glazed surface throughout the day.
Sacred Light Collection
This collection includes four hymn-inspired wood block pieces:
Amazing Grace
At Calvary
Blessed Assurance
Rock of Ages
Each piece in the collection carries the same reclaimed, layered process—art shaped by faith, restoration, and the quiet assurance of grace.
A thoughtful piece for collectors, hymn lovers, or anyone drawn to faith-centered art with depth and story.
